Review: “Dubai is a legitimate experience. A city full of friendly helpful people, no rush, no one calls for, no paper or chewing gum on the streets.” After arriving we get a pink “women”-designated taxi to take us to the hotel, above the Mall off the Emirates. If kids in a candy stall we’re stuck behind the windows: look there, look there! Our room overlooking the Burj al Arab … awesome. Immediately a NOL card for Metro purchased (type OV-card) for the first test we step right in on our way to Dubai Mall: here you’ll find an aquarium, a waterfall, a skating rink, endless shopping and a huge “food -court “Outside the famous water fountains at the foot of the Burj Kalifa. We continue until the sun goes down … great atmosphere! Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, we pick up our rental car (controlled via the internet) and drive towards Abu Dhabi. Here you will find the fastest roller coaster in the world. Dubai Marina: we first walk along the beach (camel riding or skydiving) than rest on a terrace in the Marina: enjoy the surroundings! We take a taxi (available everywhere) who took us to the Palm Atlantis Monorail brings … wow …! Atlantis The Palm Hotel: a breathtaking lobby with glass fountain, snack bar with aquarium! We marvel at our money and luxury. Old Souk: It’s Friday (Prayer) a taxi takes us to the old town for the Metro ride not before 13:00. We get lost in the old streets of less than 2 meters wide, this is Dubai GREAT! We stabbing the Creek for about 0.20 cents on an abra (wooden boat) and go towards the Spice and Gold Souk. Exhausted we sit down for coffee at the edge of the creek, with the subway back to the hotel just as nice relax by the pool on the 24th floor! Burj Khalifa the tallest building in the world. After a rigorous security check, the super fast lift us to the 124th floor. We continue until the sun sets and the fountains are spraying ….. unique! Desert safari with a 4 wheel drive on the sand dunes cracks and then a buffet with belly dancer! Nice, but very touristy. Burj Al Arab, unfortunately we can not reach the hotel (guard at the entrance of the bridge) but then at the Jumeira Souk Madinat for coffee at Starbuck’s! Dubai ….. it was great, we’ll be back!
